Exquisitely designed gowns from the Spring 2009 collections graced the New York runway at the April 2008 Bridal Market. Our couture designers have created inspirations in a broad range of prices ($2,000 - $9,000) and silhouettes to accommodate any bride; from the slim fitting sheath; to the mermaid; to the fit & flair-trumpet; to the a-line; to the full  ball gown. A new design focus is on the ‘back’ of gowns which resonates throughout more and more of our designers . . . making a bride’s exit just as exciting & memorable as her entrance! Brides are always looking for a classic gown with a unique flair that reflects their personality, giving them a ‘look’ that sets them apart from other brides. Ivory is still the most popular color, yet a palette of soft tones were also seen this season: soft white, champagne, ecru, silk white, light & dark ivory. Accent colors on gowns varied from Amsale’s butter satin sash with a vintage crystal brooch to Vera Wang’s fresh ‘wintergarden’ floral corsage. This creative piece is available in an abundance of colors: wine, moss, plum & ivory. Elegant veiling is still the perfect ‘finishing touch’ to every bride’s gown . . . waterfall, oval fingertip or a delicate petite oval which make a bride truly feel like a bride!
Additional trends we are seeing . . .
Less is more! Understated elegance is a richer ‘look’ for a bride rather than being over-done. Because brides are now following the etiquette book ‘to a point’ . . . they want the freedom to have more aspects of their wedding be a true reflection of them. They are thinking ‘outside’ the box, so to speak. Brides are selecting colorful sexy heels or strappy sandals in hot pink, bright green, cherry red, silver or gold to wear with their bridal gown which creates their own signature ‘look’. They are also asking their bridesmaids to choose their own style cocktail dress that they are more excited to buy and wear again, which is also more flattering to their figure. Brides are encouraging their mothers not to hide behind the inconspicuous beige, rather to wear a brighter color and style that complements them, and makes them feel beautiful.
